Movie Review: The Town

thetown1_largeIt took a little while, but I finally saw it. Was it worth the wait? Sure. The Town is a movie expertly made, quite involving, and when you leave you feel as if you have seen something special. It is only later on that you realize that it may not have been as great as you thought it was. This is not to say it is a bad movie by any stretch, but it is one that sort of tricks you into thinking it is greater than it is. With that said, I still feel it is a movie that you should see, it is very entertaining and finely crafted.

Movie Review: You Again

youagain1_largeFeel free to skip this movie, and I mean that sincerely. No matter how much you like any/all of the cast members there is not a lot to see here. It is a relationship comedy that does not feel real for a minute, it is populated with characters who do not seem to be a part of any reality. If that is not enough You Again feels terribly longer than its 104 minutes would have you believe.

Movie Review: Legend of the Guardians - The Owls of Ga'Hoole

legendoftheguardians1_largeWhen I first saw the trailer for this animated outing I thought for sure that I would be able to take a pass on it. I could not say that I was terribly interested in seeing animated owls embark on Lord of the Rings style action and adventure. The one thing that did interest me was the animation, the trailer was gorgeous to watch and if I were to see it I would definitely be there for the animation. Well, as it turns out another reason turned up for me to see it.

Movie Review: Devil (2010)

devil1_largeM. Night Shyamalan has had an interesting career. He exploded onto the scene with The Sixth Sense, which drew comparisons to Hitchcock. However, that was followed with a couple films meeting mixed reactions before a downward spiral set in that continued through the likes of The Village and Lady in the Water, right through his first time working with someone else's material with The Last Airbender, which proved to be an terribly frustrating experience. Now we have Devil, which is a new angle of Shyamalan material, a move for the better in my book.
