I do not recall exactly when I first heard about Insidious, but I do recall a lot of positive early buzz surrounding it, and why shouldn't there be? After all, it does feature the return of Saw's founding fathers, director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell, working together for the first time since 2007's Dead Silence. After those initial reports I sort of lost track of the movie making the run up to it's release last weekend something of a surprise. A happy surprise, but a surprise nonetheless. The trailers painted an intriguing picture with all it's talk of "Insidious is insidious."

Movie Review: Source Code
In 2009 I saw this movie called Moon and was blown away. The movie told an involving story of character and mystery in an isolating science fiction setting. It made my top five of the year. That movie was written and directed by a newcomer to the big screen scene, Duncan Jones. The movie was so good that I waited with a good deal of anticipation for his second film and hoping he did not hit a sophomore slump. Due to the success of Moon, Jones was afforded a larger budget and given a larger release for this second film. To say there is more riding on its success would be an understatement, but then I was not nearly as interested in its success as much as its quality. Although, I must admit a little to wanting it to succeed, if only to allow Duncan Jones to keep giving us films.

Movie Review: Cat Run
A few weeks back I was looking up new movie poster releases and came across one for a movie called Cat Run. I had no idea what it was, but the poster design reminded me of a James Bond movie and it stars Paz Vega, so that made it somewhat intriguing. However, since it seemed like a rather low profile title, I figured it was going to be a direct to DVD release or a rather low level theatrical release, or maybe even VOD. Whatever the case was going to be, I didn't think I'd ever end up seeing it. Color me surprised to find it arriving locally. I figured, what the heck and gave it a shot.

Netflix'ns: Ong Bak Trilogy
Netflix'ns is a series of review shorts of films, new and old, seen on Netflix, be it DVD or streaming. For better or worse, I sat through these films and have lived to tell the tale. These are not so much reviews as just comments on the film watched. Some will be first time views, others will be revisits. This is a work in progress.
